Dr. Vine’s inclusion on this list is especially noteworthy in that his selection was determined by his peers throughout the Greater New York area, specifically the five boroughs, Westchester and Nassau Counties, Northern New Jersey, and Fairfield County, Connecticut. New York Magazine works with medical research firm Castle Connolly each year to survey doctors in the area, asking them “To whom would you send a member of your family” in given specialties. Hundreds of doctors agreed that they would entrust the care of their loved ones to Dr. Vine in the specialty of general surgery.
“It is a privilege to be included on the Best Doctors list,” Dr. Vine stated. “To be recognized by my colleagues like this is a true honor. I love what I do, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to do it, day in and day out.”
There are tens of thousands of licensed doctors in New York. In order to determine the best doctors in the New York area - the five boroughs, Westchester and Nassau Counties, Northern New Jersey, and Fairfield County, Connecticut - New York Magazine teams up with medical research firm Castle Connolly each year to survey local doctors. In order for Dr. Brian Jacob to be named a NY Magazine Top Doc 2015, a sufficient number of doctors had to respond with his name when asked “To whom would you send a member of your family” in his specialty.
Dr. Jacob is honored to be named to this prestigious list and thanks his colleagues at Laparoscopic Surgical Center of New York, as well as his peers throughout the area for their support.
At Laparoscopic Surgical Center of New York, we offer treatments for a comprehensive range of colon conditions, including diverticulitis, a potentially painful condition that can interfere with a person’s quality of life. Our advanced treatments are designed to provide outstanding results with an emphasis on our patients’ comfort and safety. In the case of diverticulitis, it may even be possible to avoid surgery altogether; however, if surgery is necessary, our laparoscopic techniques allow for the most minimally invasive method available.
Diverticulitis treatment at our New York practice depends on several factors, including the extent of the inflammation or infection and whether more conservative treatment options have been tried and have failed to produce the desired results. Our primary concern is to provide you with the relief you deserve so that you can live your life to its fullest once more.
Dr. Jacob’s Social Network for Surgeons is a Facebook group that allows surgeons to collaborate continuously rather than having to wait for learning opportunities to present themselves at seminars and annual meetings.
The group started with nine surgeons discussing the best method for repairing hernias and has since blossomed into a group with more 1,200 members, including some of the world’s most reputable and knowledgeable surgeons representing 64 different countries.
“As surgeons what we do poorly is connect and collaborate,” Dr. Jacob claims. “We do it when we come to meetings, but we weren’t doing it all the time… So we realized that if we embraced social media, specifically a Facebook group, we would be allowed to collaborate continuously, but with a lot more people, and all the time.”
Dr. Felix describes the Facebook group as “addicting” due to the “quick response…from people all over the world” it allows.
For some people with Crohn’s disease, anti-inflammatory drugs, nutrition therapy, immune system suppressors, and other non-invasive treatments allow them to manage this incurable condition and live full, productive lives. For approximately half of all people who suffer from Crohn’s disease, however, laparoscopic surgery represents their best chance of finding relief from excruciating abdominal pain, fatigue, diarrhea, and other nagging symptoms. While laparoscopic surgery cannot cure Crohn’s disease, it can give sufferers a chance to escape the pain and, usually in combination with drug therapies, prevent future recurrences from being as severe.
If you are interested in undergoing laparoscopic Crohn’s disease treatment, our Manhattan practice, Laparoscopic Surgical Center of New York, offers exceptional care provided by some of this nation’s most experienced and talented surgeons. We use the most advanced technologies and minimally invasive techniques to perform laparoscopic colon surgery so that patients experience minimhttp://laparoscopicsurgeons.com/contact-us.htmlal downtime and risk of side effects and are able to resume their lives as quickly as possible.
At the Laparoscopic Surgical Center of New York, we provide patients throughout Manhattan with advanced surgery that is minimally invasive. This means providing state-of-the-art laparoscopic techniques for a variety of surgical procedures, limiting incision size and scarring while also improving healing times and patient recovery.
Many patients who undergo surgery at our facility are able to return home to recover on the same day as their minimally invasive surgery procedure. This is known as outpatient surgery, the benefits of which we'd like to go over right now.
